Dear Sporting Dog Enthusiast,

Now that we’re on the brink of summer, Kansas pheasant hunters already have an eye on the November calendar. They are working their dogs and comparing schedules with their hunting buddies. The Kansas pheasant opener is November 14th. Will you join us?

Many out-of-state hunters come back year after year because Kansas is a hunter’s bargain. And it’s true! Compared to some other popular upland destinations, Kansas has less expensive hunting licenses and no tax on hunts (which corporate groups love, too). Thanks to our climate and natural resources, Kansas also has higher bag limits with longer seasons.

As you plan your fall and winter hunts, I encourage you to consider:

  • Kansas pheasant season runs November 14 through January 31, with a youth season on November 7 & 8. You can buy your Kansas hunting licenses and permits online.
  • Mixed bag opportunities: Kansas also ranks among the top three states for bobwhite quail harvest, and the quail season runs concurrently with pheasant. Throughout the central part of the state, hunters enjoy fantastic mixed bag bird hunting.
  • Online planning resources: Kansas offers more than a million acres of walk-in access hunting. To help plan your hunts and strategize locations, we will provide online resources including the Upland Bird Forecast and the Walk-In Hunting Access Atlas. Mark your calendar to download those when they’re published in September!
  • Private hunts for one-stop shopping: Kansas also offers an additional half million acres of hunting through licensed private hunting lodges. These are especially popular with out-of-state hunters who enjoy the one-stop convenience that those businesses provide. Check out Kansas’ private hunting options here.

Kansas is one of the best places in the country for bagging pheasant. Plan now – and join other hunters who know Kansas as an outstanding hunting destination!

With a big Kansas welcome,
